All workers who conduct or supervise tasks whilst at height will find this course beneficial to workplace safety. This course will enable you to comply with current WHS legislation with successful trainees receiving a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment.

Work at heights training is focused on fall prevention rather than fall arrest. It is designed to equip workers with the knowledge and skills to safely work in any height situation, primarily being aimed at general construction, maintenance, mining, large factories or other work situations where work is conducted in a place where a fall from one level to another is possible.

    FAQ

General FAQ about our certified training courses

How much do the courses cost?

Courses can range from $400 to $900. Government funding and group discounts could be available. Contact our team to discuss your specific needs.

What if I have no experience?

You can start with EWP under 11m course if you like as this will give you some experience. However if you want to go straight to the high risk course the trainer goes through everything in class. If the first time you complete the course and you don’t pass you get a second chance on the next course available.

    What is the assessment process?

Your training will be divided up into two parts firstly theory wish is a closed book test, it is recommended to study the learner guide the night before. Once that is completed and passed you will then be required to undertake a practical assessment.

What if I fail an assessment?

You will have the opportunity to retry until you are competent and work ready.

Can I get a refund if I decide not to do the course?

Yes refunds are available if you cancel your training before starting the course.

How long does the EWP ticket last?

EWP over 11m ticket lasts 5 years on a high risk card. To keep it in date you need to apply for another card before it expires.

Is an EWP the Same as a Scissor Lift?

There are various types of EWP, including: scissor lifts. self-propelled boom lifts. trailer or vehicle mounted lifts.

Does EWP Include Working at Heights?

An EWP ticket doesn’t specifically cover working at heights: this is a separate course. Naturally, working on an elevating work platform means you’ll be working at height at times, however getting your EWP license won’t automatically cover you for height safety work in different types of applications.

    What are the entry requirements?

Students must be 18+ to complete a high risk course. Students are required to demonstrate competency in numeracy, literacy, and communication skills at a Year 10 level. Proficiency in spoken and written English language is required. A reasonable level of fitness is required.

What is an EWP Yellow Card?

The Yellow Card Training Program has been designed for people needing to develop the skills and knowledge required to operate Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (commonly known as EWPs). The course will provide training in the safe use of various types of elevated work platforms including boom type EWPs with boom length under 11 metres. Participants may complete singular or multiple modules, depending on the type of EWP they will be operating. Modules include:

    Vertical Lift (VL)
    Scissor Lift (SL)
    Self Propelled Boom Lift (BL)
    Trailer Lift (TL)
    Truck Mounted Lift (TM)
    Advanced Boom (AB)

Why do I need a Yellow Card to operate an Elevating Work Platform?

The operator of the scissor lift is required by Regulations to be trained in its safe operation. The Yellow Card is an industry driven training program that provides the holder with evidence of training in a particular type of EWP.

Do I need the High Risk Work Licence (HRWL)?

You are required to have a high-risk work licence for many uses in the construction industry, including working above 11m or operating a forklift.

How to apply for the High Risk Work Licence (HRWL)?

After passing the course you will receive via email a Candidate Assessment Summary form from work place health and safety then you can apply for a HRWL or add a new licence class on an existing HRWL, at worksafe.qld.gov.au using the online services.
